Easy and Affordable Gift for any Occasion

I am definitely a person who checks Pinterest for ideas often. So when I needed a quick and affordable gift, I made sure to hit up good ole' Pinterest. She's almost like my old faithful! However I just really could not find what I was looking for and almost every article I clicked on the gift either seemed too expensive for my penny-pinching budget or like something that was, for lack of a better word, useless and like they would just throw it out in turn throwing my money away. I definitely didn't want that! Instead I set out with only a glimmer of an idea and came up with this.

This year for Christmas I honestly just did not have much money to spend.. or any really at all, heh *nervously sweats. But my fiance and I were, and still are, trying to save money and gifts for people outside of the family were just not a priority. Even our family had to suffer through homemade gifts! However, I knew that a couple of my closer friends would still be giving me gifts and even though I know that "gifts are not the reason for the season" have you ever suffered from that guilt of not getting someone a gift even when you know they are getting one for you? Yeah, I was feeling that full blast. So out of the need to get them gifts on an almost non-existent budget came a gift that's easy, affordable, good for any occasion, and is honestly something that I personally would love to receive.

I had somewhat of an idea in my head of what I wanted to put together, but it was more so a bigger picture. I knew I wanted to get a mug of some kind and fill it with candy and put it with something else, what a vision right?! I found these mugs that just so happened to be on sale that day at Hobby Lobby and how super cute are they!

Each of these mugs was originally priced at $7.99, but they were 50% off. So in the end I essentially got two for the price of one! After looking around Hobby Lobby for a bit longer I realized that I really had no idea what else I was going to add into this gift.

We later had to make a quick trip to Target and I found these notepads there in the clearance/$1 section thingy. Each notepad was a dollar I believe and I bought four (two for each gift) so I only spent $4 at Target.. unheard of! If you're counting, our total is up to $12 that's $6 a-piece for a gift!

I had already purchased a big box of Bob's Soft Peppermint Candy mints at Wal-mart.. you know the good melt in your mouth kind and had a ton left over. I know that this is not the most glamorous candy and not necessarily a "snacking" candy either, but hey, they fit with the season and it was something I didn't need to spend money on since we already had them. Again, if you're keeping count, since this item was "free" our grand total comes out to be $6. To me, that's cause for celebration!! Though, in light of giving this gift a more personal touch and making it something the receiver might like even more, I would sub in their favorite candy or maybe even some gourmet chocolate!

To put the gift together I put heaps full of the mints into the cups (I really just wanted to get rid of them, we had too many!). I made sure to keep adding mints until they would no longer stay on the pile and then I designated the cups and notepads to who I thought they fit the best. I set the gifts for each person on two sheets of white tissue paper, folded the tissue paper around the items and tied it up with some ribbon. I had originally wanted to use cellophane, but it turned out that we didn't have any and I didn't want to go buy some. The tissue paper worked just fine and they still turned out super cute in my opinion.

I hope this helped you on your road to find that perfect gift that won't break the bank!
